Family medicine · Plaza Midwood, Charlotte
Medicine at the speed of a real conversation.
Alder is a family practice built around one decision: longer visits, fewer of them per day. Thirty minutes for new patients. Same-week appointments when you're sick. A clinician who knows your name without checking the chart.
Accepting new patients. Most major plans accepted — check yours here.
Your first visit
What actually happens, minute by minute:
-
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
Forms come to you
We mail or email your intake forms ahead of time, so the waiting room isn’t where you fill them out. Bring your medication list and insurance card.
-
MINUTE 0
Check-in, by a person
A front-desk coordinator checks you in — no kiosk. If you told us about a mobility or communication need, it’s already noted on the visit.
-
MINUTE 10
Vitals and history
A medical assistant takes your vitals and reviews why you’re here, so you don’t repeat yourself to three people.
-
MINUTE 20
Thirty minutes with your clinician
New-patient visits are booked for thirty minutes of actual conversation. You will not be interrupted by a knock at minute nine.
-
BEFORE YOU LEAVE
The plan, in writing
You leave with a printed summary in plain language: what we found, what happens next, and exactly who to call with questions.
Care
One practice for the whole household.
Checkups and vaccinations for children. Annual physicals and screenings for adults. Ongoing care for blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, and the other conditions that need a steady hand rather than a specialist for every question. And same-week visits when something new comes up.
Feeling sick today?
Call before 10 a.m. and we will almost always see you the same day. After 10, we'll tell you honestly whether it's tomorrow morning or whether you shouldn't wait for us at all.
Office: (704) 555-0188
The practice
Three clinicians. Eleven hundred patients. On purpose.
A typical primary-care panel is over two thousand patients per clinician. Ours is roughly half that, which is the entire secret behind the longer visits and the same-week scheduling — it isn't efficiency, it's arithmetic.
Becoming a patient takes one form.
Tell us who's joining the practice and when you'd like to come in. A coordinator responds within one business day with appointment options — not a portal invitation.
